The 2010 Nissan GT-R 3.8-Liter Engine Features Two IHI Turbochargers

The 2010 Nissan GT-R 3.8-Liter Engine Features Two IHI Turbochargers

Nissan’s high-performance GT-R returns for 2010 with 5 more horsepower for its twin-turbocharged V6.

The GT-R uses Nissan’s 3.8-liter, all-aluminum VR38DETT engine. Although this 24-valve, DOHC V6 is loosely based on Nissan’s familiar VQ engine, it has many advanced features, including a stiffer, closed-deck cylinder block; plasma-sprayed cylinder bores to reduce weight and friction; and an unusual wet/dry-sump oil system to ensure proper lubrication in high-g turns. Curiously, it does not use the sophisticated Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) system from the 370Z; it has variable valve timing on the intake cam only. Each engine is hand-built by a single technician in a special clean-room facility, to ensure precise assembly.

The 3.8-liter engine features two IHI turbochargers, each with its own air-to-air intercooler. The turbines themselves are made of stainless steel, to reduce mass and improve spool-up time. Each turbocharger feeds one cylinder bank, providing up to 10.2 pounds of boost. The turbochargers are integral to the exhaust manifolds, making turbo upgrades more difficult.

The GT-R’s power output has controversial since its debut. In 2009, it was rated at 480 horsepower, which several reviewers discovered was significantly underrated. For 2010, Nissan rates the V6 at 485 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque, crediting the extra horsepower to unspecified engine refinements.

Whatever its actual output, the GT-R has ferocious acceleration, rivaling many sports cars that cost far more. Because it does not use variable-geometry turbochargers, however, there is some turbo lag, with power coming on strongest above 3,000 rpm. Despite its power, the V6 is reasonably civilized; some reviewers actually complain that it is too quiet, lacking sporty character.

The twin-turbo engine is inevitably thirsty, but its 16/21 EPA rating is no worse than the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, and better than the less-powerful Dodge Challenger SRT8. Premium fuel is mandatory.

The 2010 Nissan Altima

On March 4, 2011 · 0 Comments

Improvements for the 2010 Nissan Altima include a redesigned front body style, upgraded audio systems, larger touch screen navigation systems, and standard stability control. Sedan models previously labeled 3.5 SE are now called 3.5 SR and see the loss of the manual transmission option. iPod and Bluetooth connectivity have been standardized as well making them either more affordable additional options, or standard features on high-end models. As a mid-size sedan or coupe, these cars offer sporty styling, high safety ratings, high quality interiors, and a lot of available features.

Parents who need a family style sedan, yet still want to have some fun with the car they buy will be more than impressed with the new 2010 Nissan Altima. It is fairly hard to notice that they fit the standard family sedan profile. Models equipped with the V-6 engine offer a lot of power and feel a lot closer to a sports car than anything else. The increased amount of interior accessories and modern appearance make them wonderful additions to the Nissan line of cars.

Available body styles include both sedan and coupes. Basic models are the 2.5 that have only a few standard accessories and can easily be upgraded to consumers preferences. Basic features are cruise control, remote keyless entry, trip computers, AC, and a tilting steering wheel. Most noticeable on 2.5 models is the absence of a stereo, though the wiring and speakers are already included. The next step up is the 2.5 S trim offered on both sedan and coupe body styles. Standard features for these models include remote keyless entry, 17 inch alloy wheels, CD player, remote car starting, and convenience packages include even more features.

2.5 S models equipped with convenience packages (sedan) come with dual zone climate controls, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, satellite radio, Bose stereos, rearview cameras, and a sunroof. 2.5 SL trim models are upgraded to complete leather upholstery, heated seats for front passengers and drivers, and xenon headlamps. Consumers looking to optimize 2.5 models will do better with sedans than the limited options available for coupe models.

The high end model of the 2010 Nissan Altima fleet is the 3.5 SR edition. Offered with a V-6 engine, 17 inch alloy wheels, enhanced suspension, Bluetooth and iPod ports, sunroof, new xenon headlamps, optional spoilers and fog lights, it is as sporty as any car in the market. Navigation systems are available that can inform drivers of traffic conditions as well as a full weather report.

Under the hood consumers will be offered two different engines. base models get a 2.5 liter four cylinder that has a horsepower output of 175. There is also a CVT (continuously variable transmissions) one sedan models, while coupe packages come with a 6 speed manual transmission. Fuel economy for the smaller engine ranges from 23 mpg in city driving, and 32 mpg highway. For a family sedan those numbers are more than fair, but not quite the best in the market. The larger engine is a 3.5 liter V-6 that puts out 270 horsepower. Fuel economy for these models range from 20 mpg city to 27 mpg highway.

As a family sedan, the car market really doesn’t offer any sportier of an option than the 2010 Nissan Altima. Properly equipped packages come with a lot of accessories and more than enough power to impress consumers who don’t want to admit they are running errands for their kids. Even younger consumers will be impressed with all the available options these cars have to offer. Pricing is relatively fair, and for what is offered it is hard to say there is a better deal in the mid-size sedan class.

Simple Life With Nissan Titan Chrome Trim Accessories

On February 25, 2011 · 0 Comments

When it comes to Aftermarket Accessories for the Nissan Titan, it’s a KISS – Keep It Simple Stupid. Adding chrome trims to an already titanic truck is not a must-do, but a simple compliment to enhance the outward appearance of your truck. If you are a chrome lover, there is absolutely no limit on the amount of chrome trim accessories for the Titan; there are custom trims designed to fit the Nissan Titan front, sides and rear.

Right up front, there is a wide range of aftermarket grilles with different configurations including horizontal and vertical billet, stainless, aluminum and mesh style chrome grills. After you decide on what style of chrome grille you are going to install, you will have to choose a style. Take your time, and pick what goes well with your ride. Directly below the grille, you can easily add a chrome ABS fog light bezel to bling out the looks of the front end.

Take a look at the side of your Nissan Titan; if nothing grabs your attention, then you know you need some chrome trims to enhance the sides. Simple chrome trim accessories to add to the sides include chrome mirror covers, chrome door handles, window sills and maybe a fuel door. To accent the wheel well and fenders, you may add a set of chrome stainless steel fender trims and chrome fender vents or fender port holes. Also, adding some Rocker panel molding trims is not a bad idea to enhance and protect the rockers section of your Titan.

For Added protection to your vehicle, there is a choice of chrome bull bar or grille guard, chrome steps and chrome taillight guard. The chrome plated front sturdy bull bar offers a barrier of protection for your Titan’s front end, protecting vulnerable front end parts including the grille, radiator, and steering components. To keep stones, bugs and rain away from your pickup truck, there is a chrome hood deflector and a chrome rain guard. The rain guard window visor allows both the driver and passengers the ability to crack open windows even in severe weather conditions. This keeps clean, fresh air flowing in the cab and pushing stale air out in any condition, rain or shine.

When it comes to chrome accessories, chrome tail light covers have your back. Refresh the rear of your Titan with chrome taillight bezel or covers to protect and accent the tail light. While you are at it, add a chrome plated tailgate cover. For the tailgate, there are several styles to choose from; polished stainless steel tailgate surround by quality automotive accessories (QAA), U shaped tailgate chrome cover including the handle beautifully crafted by TFP products, and then my favorite, custom molded chrome ABS tailgate surround by Paramount Restyling.

One of the unique features of chrome trim accessory is that they are inexpensive and to top that, they are easy to install; most of the chrome trims with the exception of the grille guards or bull bars, chrome grilles, taillight guards and truck steps are easily installed using industrial strength 3M adhesive tape. When it comes to customizing your Nissan Titan with chrome trims, choose your accessory trims wisely. It is ok to add some shine but not add so much chrome to alter the looks of an already titanic truck. Now that you have been exposed to some of the popular chrome trims to enhance your Titan, are you ready to accent your vehicle with style?

Like most model years, the 2010 Nissan Maxima is one of the best selling full size sedans.

The federal government has awarded the car five out of five stars for its driver and front passenger protection in head on accidents as well as five out of five stars for all passengers protection in side collisions.

One key safety feature which is well applauded by industry experts is the Maxima’s airbags. The car comes standard with dual stage front air bags, driver seat mounted side impact air bags, and front passenger seat mounted side impact air bags. The car also comes standard with an occupancy sensor which will recognize when someone is sitting in the front passenger seat.

While the Maxima can help protect its drivers in the event of an accident, some newer technology features in the car can help prevent accidents from occurring. The car comes standard with an excellent braking system as well as vehicle stability control which helps keep the car stable in poor driving conditions.

Beyond air bags, the 2010 Nissan Maxima comes standard with a variety of other safety features. The car comes standard with front seat adjustable height seat belts and seat belt tensioners. Pure Performance – Nissan Skyline R34 GTR

On February 4, 2011 · 0 Comments

In 1999 the Nissan Skyline R34 GTR came to life, the latest model, and the best GTR yet. Styling is superb with an all new much more aggressive shape; it looks like a car to be reckoned with. The R34 GTR looks and feels like it got the best from both of the R32 and R33 models in one package.

The interior is simple, sporty, and luxurious, with plenty of head and leg room for taller drivers. Seats are comfy for long trips yet still hold you in when cornering hard. Centre gauges have been replaced with a LCD screen. This shows loads of information like, throttle position, boost pressure, torque split, a built in G-meter, and it has a com-port so you can download your trips data onto a laptop.

In an effort to reproduce the handling feel of the much loved R32 GTR the wheel base was shortened b 7.5cm, chassis rigidity was improved by 50 percent, and the suspension was greatly improved. Revised multi-link rear suspension featured at the rear with McPherson struts with an additional link up front. Ten years had passed since the R32 but the same techno wizardry (HICAS and ATTESSA) remains but these features where greatly improved.

The RB26DETT engine still remains but again improvements where made and because of this the engine has become smoother and quieter. The torque curve has improved and remains flatter throughout the rev range, 400nm is achieved at 4,400rpm this has made the engine more flexible.

Turbo chargers where also revised featuring a dual ball bearing core which reduced lag and improved the power band. The gear box was replaced by a 6 speed getrag which features, shorter ratios, and a shorter throws. Acceleration times have improved, 0-100 is achieved in 4.9 seconds and the 400m sprint in completed in 12.9.

These refinements make driving the GTR a pleasure with every aspect improved. Steering is responsive and grip is phenomenal making this GTR a true cornering machine. Ride quality is on the firm side but harsh bumps are absorbed well, but this is a sports car after all.

Nissan certainly got it right with the R34 you get the extra space and luxury that the R33 provided, as well as the race like feel of the R32. Simply put this Nissan Skyline is well hell of a sports car. For more information on I recommend you visit this website. http://nissanskyline.6te.net

Pimp My 4×4! But Start With The Tyres!

On January 28, 2011 · 0 Comments

Four-wheel drive, 4WD, or 4×4 is a term used to describe a four-wheeled vehicle with a drive train that allows all four wheels to receive power from the engine simultaneously. The term has traditionally been linked to sports utility vehicles, or SUVs, which have been very popular in the United States, and are now becoming popular across Europe. The benefit of a car with four-wheel drive is that it allows for normal two-wheel drive on normal roads and superior four-wheel mode for low traction conditions such as snow, ice, slippery surfaces, mud or loose gravel.

In response to criticism by civic groups against using larger SUVs for daily urban trips, car manufacturers are now trying to position the smaller versions as green vehicles, with levels of CO2 emissions much closer to their conventional car equivalents than larger models. For example, Citroen recently launched the C-Crosser, only available with a particulate filter and frugal diesel engines.

These newer models are likely to be popular in Europe, where smaller SUVs have been more successful than larger models, and are likely to be a bigger driving force for sales of 4WD vehicles in the near future. Other examples include the Nissan Qashqai and the Renault Koleos, both combining four-by-four drive and limited off-road capabilities with the handling of a passenger car.

J.D. Power Automotive Forecasting estimated SUVs comprise 1.5 million out of 18.3 million vehicles, or 8% of the car market, in Europe in 2007. Of this quotient, 0.6% are small SUVs, 2.4% are large ones and 5.3% are medium-sized. By 2010, the SUV segment is estimated to grow to 10.1%, with medium growing to 7% and large slipping to 2.2%. By 2014, the SUV market is expected to increase to 11.2%, with medium-sized cars responsible for 7.6% and large cars for 2%. The total European new car market is then expected to be 21.9 million vehicles.

This is of course good news for car workshops. In recent years, TV shows such as MTV’s Pimp My Ride, have increased the popularity of overhauling, or, if you will, customising cars with things like game consoles, chrome wheels and faster engines. But before 4×4 owners go off trying to similarly overhaul their own vehicles, it might be best to invest in a new set of 4×4 tyres.

Donald Cheach, editor of Top Gear Malaysia, recently told the Malaysia Star: “The first thing I would recommend is definitely a set of better tyres. There is nothing wrong with go-fast upgrades as long as there is an equal effort to improve the safety aspect of the vehicle. The wheels represent the unsprung weight of the vehicle. Generally, the lighter this is, the more efficient the performance. Suspension should be looked at next, followed by engine upgrades”.

Ultimately, those looking to buy a new SUV in order to take advantage of its 4×4 capabilities, yet stay environmentally conscious, will find their needs well-met by upcoming medium and small sized SUVs, should they decide to pimp them or not.

Nissan: 40 Years in North America

On January 14, 2011 · 0 Comments

The North American market has seen some bold changes by Nissan over the years. Originally imported under the Datsun name, Nissan cars in Canada and the US made the switch over to the new name in the early 1980s and the company hasnt been the same since. A broader line up and the introduction of the luxurious Infiniti brand in the late 1980s changed the face of Nissan tremendously. The winners are consumers everywhere who can get a great vehicle for a fair price.

It was in 1965 when the first Datsuns arrived in Canada. Who could forget the 1600cc 510 wagon with a 4 speed manual transmission? The only thing that could kill this car was rust and a rust bucket it was at that. Or, how about the 620 pick up? A great little hauler that is in a league of its own. My personal favorite was the 720 pick up truck equipped with a diesel engine. A good, sturdy truck that really sipped fuel.

Todays Nissan line up is a far cry from the cars that dotted the landscape during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. For consumers that is probably a good thing too. Todays line up still offers glimpses of the original Datsuns with the Sentra reminding some of the old B210, but about ten times more comfortable at that too. The Altima, Maxima, and the revived 350Z round out the car line up and when you add in all the SUVs and trucks that Nissan now sells the Japanese automaker has something for everyone.

Consumers are maintaining their Nissans/Datsuns with premium Nissan parts and accessories. Your dealer will have what you need, but remember the prices you pay for parts through the dealership will be the prevailing retail rate. Some national auto parts chains will have a decent selection, but they may have difficulty hunting down the rare Datsun or early Nissan part for you.

A new choice for consumers is auto parts wholesalers, particularly those who sell online. Prices are usually much lower because wholesalers buy direct from leading manufacturers including Bosch, K&N, Hella, Monroe, Covercraft, and others. Still, make sure that the retailer is based in Canada and not charging you outrageous shipping and duty charges for parts shipped in from the US or elsewhere. The selection they offer to you should be great, parts stocked must meet or exceed OEM requirements, and customer service should be just a click of the mouse and/or a toll free phone number away.

Be careful of retailers specializing in generic Nissan parts as counterfeit auto parts are a big problem in North America. Always learn in advance what the company’s shipping, return, and warranty policies are before making your purchase.

Nissan Skyline – Transition From R33 to R34

On January 7, 2011 · 0 Comments

The new Nissan Skyline was introduced to overcome the sources of discontentment in its predecessors. As per the latest findings of the company’s research over the market requirements, the smaller sized R32’s nimbleness is more preferable than R33 because of its smaller size. Therefore, R34 was introduced with a decrease in length up to 7.5 cm to reduce the dimensions and make it even more suitable for better handling. By covering all the previous problems, the brand new R34 was then launched with better facilities and smaller size.

As far the design and exteriors of the Skyline are concerned, it has a long hood, larger air dam and a flat looking windscreen. It has canted, clear and narrow headlights. This car just seems like a Samurai that is getting ready for a flight. This car stands over 245/40 ZR18 Bridgestone Potenza RE040, which is specially designed for the Skyline. The body composed of carbon fiber, provides this car strength as well as attractive looks.

The Nissan Skyline is a five seated car, which is among the top ones for daily drive. The interior design of the car looks very simple. The various controls are also provided along with the car, which are well place within easy reach of the driver. From safety point of view, it has air-bags for driver, passengers and some extra side air bags are also attached to the car. However, many car buyers also prefer Skyline because it can provide a sportive driving experience and do lot more at a relatively cheaper price.
